hello 2010. :D

okay thats 3 days lag. haha. but still, helllooooooooo (: i look forward to 2010 being a good year. i want to write a endoftheyear-startoftheyear post coupled with photos and long paragraphs of words and new year resolutions and im going to start. HAHA. im feeling kinda lazy hahahaha but im going to start. (:

2009 has been a really eventful year, i shall try to go chronologically.

at december 2008, i remember slacking my life away never feeling so much freedom before i was going out with the dancers every alternate day until i actually felt kinda tired. and i decided that like anyone else, i gotta start doing some work. jan 09 marked the first time i actually stepped into the corporate world, doing admin at the insurance company Aviva which was located at 1, Shenton Way. haha, i think that will be the coolest address i'll ever be working at. i've always wanted to experience office life, and i got my experience. i discovered that working at CBD is not anywhere near as glam as what i thought, but bounded with a 2mth contract, i continued. in those two months, i dragged myself up early every morning, i squeezed with all the professionals and OLs in the train packed like sardines, i discovered that there are actually trains here on the red line which go straight to pasir ris due to the peak hour, i saw how people can literally fling themselves onto the people in the train just to squeeze on. in those two months, i ate at Amoy Hawker Centre mostly and tried random food here and there, i used tissue packs to "chope" seats just like the office people do, i discovered nice nasi lemak for only $2. in the office, i saw how mundane work can get, and i got a glimpse of the reality of life when i see colleagues dragging themselves through work only for the end of the day when they can get home to meet their family. the reality of life part comes in when i realised they are doing routine work day after day, what i absolutely couldnt stand, they are doing it for a good part of their lives, to support their family. but in those two months, i met the aviva warriors who became a good part of my life now as we still meet up for dinners and sleepovers. (: i think we must be the most bonded group of temp workers Aviva ever had.

after the two months, i quitted and decided to enjoy my once-in-a-lifetime long holidays, surviving with tuition. tuition, which helped to hone my teaching skills. if i ever want to teach. hahaha. on my first tuition day i was nervous and tried my best to prepare myself, i spoke perfect good english and hope my tutee would understand what im talking about. today, i am left with two tutees whom i've grown close to now that we would talk abt random things other than just studying. and sometimes i feel more like their big sister, trying to give them as much advice on life as possible as they are still so long, hoping they would enjoy their childhood/teenage while it lasts and hoping the best for them other than just academics. (: through tuition i was exposed to how innocent little kids can get. how they can say things which left me gaping just because there was simply no answer. an example, when i said to her that she shld treasure primary sch life, myat asked me, "okaaaay. but how do i treasure it. its not like i can have a treasure box and put my primary school in it." something she said so simply, was something i realised i have been wondering. what does it mean to treasure something? perhaps this is what we mean by having the kids teach you things instead.

hongkong trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my first time overseas with friends and it was a fantastic experience cause it was with favourite friends too. (: i think i talked so much abt it before already, now i can only say i will not trade that 5 days for anything. :D

in 2009, i joined this camp and met this group of people who were the first to lead me to explore new things. i guess i'll never forget that my university experience started off with cac camp slytherin og where i met super enthusiastic councillors and it was a camp experience nothing like i've ever experience before. before this camp, i remember i was all lethargic and pessimistic about making new friends and i sort of decided i was getting too old for such stuff. but thanks to the camp, i got back my energy i needed for this new phase of my life which i was stepping into :D with slytherin, it was the first time when i realised that WOW NOW MY FRIENDS CAN DRIVE. HAHA. and it was the first time when i can stay out somewhere for the whole night just talking and talking and life and things and go home at insane hours of the night. with slytherin, i rmb sitting in weijie's car after our og bbq he was trying to do stunts in the dead of the night, i rmb the wind zooming past my face with the music blasting in the background. :) of course, im not trying to advocate dangerous behaviour (hahaha) im just saying its the start of something new. in slytherin, i met the FUNNIEST group of people i've ever ever met, people who can say stupid and brainless things and make the rest of us laugh like crazy. in slytherin, i found jasmine ang and yanni, two good girlfriends who were the first i can talk abt certain stuff with which i could never talk abt so readily to others, two girlfriends whose company will always bring me nothing less than fun.

2009 was one filled with many emotions too, with the end of As and the receiving of Alevels results. i guessed i did better than what i ever thought, and it gave me new directions. i was never one who knew straight off what i wanted to be and have an ambition for my whole life. i've always envied those kinda people but i am not one of them. uni applications was draining, and it was also the time when i finally must stop thinking that i can always think later, and really think about my future. i guessed it was after much weighing of many pros and cons, and by some degree of fate and luck, i ended up in NUS Pharmacy. after cac camp, i thought that i will not find good friends in pharmacy and im glad it proved me wrong. i remember the day after talking to yw, when i decided that yes i shld go down to take a look at pharm rag and hopefully i'll get myself interested in something and be involved in some school stuff before school actually starts. especially since i didnt go for pharm FOC. that was the start of actually knowing some pharmacy people, and that was when jiayuan and i decided that we should join rag dance instead. and rag dance was again, the start of knowing the pharmers whom i have in school now :) altogether, i am so thankful that i got past my laziness and became a part of pharm rag 2009, which was a wonderful experience with wonderful people. practices of course werent all good and well, esp nearing rag period when we were spending every single day of the rest of our hols in AS7 when we can be in town having fun. but at the end of it it was worth it. for us. i think that this holidays, with outings etc they kinda brought us all closer. and im really thankful that as youngsters we can talk to one another more easily and become close friends more easily. im also definitely thankful that today, i am proud and glad to say that im a part of nus pharmacy.

in december 2009, i went taiwan with my family. this was something which sort of never happened and it was a first. it wasnt a fantastic trip, but still, i got to go to another country and experience a different weather and experience a different sort of life for a week. i saw mountains reaching up into the clouds, i saw the pacific ocean which was vast and led to nowhere. i went to taiwan night markets indulging in the good food and good bubble tea they have. i talked to my bro and sister abt things we'll never find the time for at home. (:

so much has happened in 2009, the above are merely the major events. after everything, im thankful i have my dance clique with me all these while even though we have to make extra effort to meet up. and now, sharon is going to australia soon for dentistry, we're going to miss her. but we WILL find our way to aust one day to visit her and find out abt her life there. :D im thankful for my sec4 clique and especially wanteng whom i can really talk abt anything with and we'll update each other like crazy every time we talk. she's also going to msia soon for med and i wish her all the best in becoming a good doc! one regret must be i didnt get to meet up with my p sch gang this hols, maybe cause there were far too short. but im sure we'll have our chance to meet soon. going back to sv that day with serene and talking to ms teo was unforgettable.

of course, there was also braces. something which i dreaded for SO long but today i am certain im definitely not regretting. and there was the, or rather, there was the lack thereof ........ dance. something which has followed me since p sch and has always been a part of my life until now. something which has made me into who i am today. regrets and regrets and regrets. the thought of giving it all up feels so goddamn painful. but admist them i still cannot find the courage. it will be a blessing to be able to perform again.. but it might not happen for the rest of my life. at least i have beautiful, beautiful memories.

seems like 2010 gonna be a year full of challenges. my new year resolutions:
1) lead a healthier lifestyle, eating healthier foods
2) earn my own keep happily instead of constantly complaning
3) this is sort of a continuation from part 2), earn my own keep and really really save up and pay for major things myself for a change (this is me trying to become more mature)
4) GET A DRIVING LICENSE. I MUST ACCOMPLISH THIS.
5) study hard and be more consistent so i can pull up my CAP. (:

this year, i wish for something i've never really wished for.xx
